Template - Tuna oilfield, Mediterranean Sea

16-04-2010

Due to the very soft soil layers at the Tuna Field in the Mediterranean Sea near Egypt, Cape Holland supplied an APE 600B vibro hammer for the first part of the installation to eliminate the risk of pile run. The piles were installed through a template, that was positioned on the seabed before the piles were installed. After driving the piles beyond stable position to refusal, an impact hammer was used to drive the piles to final penentration.

Reason for equipment choice

  • Eliminate risk of "Pile Run"
  • Stable pile before placing Impact Hammer
  • Subsea capabilities
