Pre-piling, ZOHR Field, Egyptian waters (2017)

In early June, CAPE Holland installed 4 pin piles for a jacket foundation in a development project off the Egyptian coast for Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL). To place the 250t piles into the template at 85m water depth and drive the piles to a stable depth, SHL used a CAPE Holland CV-320-VLT-U Vibro Lifting Tool (VLT). By driving the piles to a stable depth, any risk of the template falling over when the impact hammer is placed on top is mitigated. This way, even in places with low self-penetration, all piles can be placed in position without tool changes, before the impact hammer is deployed once, to drive all piles to final penetration in a single lift.
